CHP officials did not immediately establish the events leading to the crash and how it occurred, but the pedestrian involved sustained fatal injuries from the impact. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene at precisely 5:19 a.m.

The office of the San Bernardino County Coroner disclosed the teenager’s identity as 18-year-old Andrew Ray Moya. The reports failed to ascertain whether the motorist fled the scene of the accident, or stayed to assist the victim and await police arrival. Additional details about the traffic collision are pending.

The California Highway Patrol Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the factors responsible, as well as the liability of the collision. Investigators would look into possible causes like impairment by drugs or alcohol, improperly lit highway, mechanical faults, distracted driving, or impatience.

Detectives would include further findings in the updated reports.

Victims of traffic collisions or their families should endeavor to contact a top accident lawyer for counsel and representation.
