A Lubbock County grand jury has indicted 28-year-old Anthony Martin, 24-year-old Luis Salinas, and Xavier Montalvo, 20, on a charge of racing on a highway causing death.

Montalvo, who was driving the Dodge, also faces a charge of recklessly causing death by street racing.

Court documents say the three men were members of a car club called Muscle Mayhem and they were racing illegally on Slide Road.

The Lubbock Police Department said Montalvo, Martin, and Salinas began a drag race around 69th Street and the crash occurred at 75th street

Montalvo was traveling at 94 miles per hour when the collision happened, according to information received by police.

The speed limit on Slide Road is 45 miles per hour.

Wright’s survivors are suing the three drivers and the car club for wrongful death. They are asking for more than $1 million in damages.

The lawsuit claims that the collision was violent, and it caused significant personal injuries to Howard. The family says these injuries resulted in their loved one’s death.

The civil suit also alleges that before his death, Wright experienced pain, suffering, medical liabilities, and mental anguish.

More updates could be published about this case in future accident reports.
