The Riverside County Fire Department also responded to the call, and on arrival, they found that two people were trapped in the wrecked vehicles. The firemen successfully extricated the two — one having moderate injuries, and the other severe wounds — before medics took the latter to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
Two others sustained minor injuries and received treatment at an undisclosed hospital. The paramedics treated the fifth casualty at the scene after the person declined to go to the hospital. The police said that Jeffers passed away on Saturday night, and medical personnel pronounced her dead.
The accident report did not state what led to the two-vehicle collision, who the drivers were, and on whose side the liability lay. The investigation remains active.
Liability in a two-vehicle collision helps the investigators recommend the right offense and charge to the District Attorney’s Office when the accident results in an injury or death. Under its laws, California makes provisions for the preceding, and the punishment awarded is subject to the facts of each case.
