Cervantes struck the man from behind, and a third vehicle carrying Zaragosa rear-ended him. The driver of the victim’s car, identified as a 46-year-old woman did not sustain any injury, but the man, a 15-year-old and a 2-year-old passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The medics took Zaragosa and the other two to PeaceHealth St. John’s Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The WSP said that the victims and their driver had their seat belts on, and the driver of the first car did not sustain any injury.

Cervantes was also uninjured, and he was alone in his vehicle. The authorities took him into custody on suspicion of vehicular assault, felony drug possession, and possession with intent. There is no additional information at this time.

The authorities used the collision to reiterate the importance of drivers giving adequate space when driving to enable them to stop in time to avoid crashes. Those involved in auto collisions should hire auto accident attorneys to represent their interests.
