An unidentified male driver of a Honda was exiting the freeway, and at the same time, a Cadillac driven by Talamantes was coming from behind. The latter struck the first vehicle from behind, and the force of the accident sent it straight into a pillar.
The Honda split into half, ejecting the driver onto the roadway. The suspect’s Cadillac then landed on the man. Eyewitnesses said that Talamantes exited his wrecked car and tried to run away on foot, but they followed him, caught, and handed him over to the police.
The authorities suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs and transported him to the Joint Processing Center for evaluation. Sean Teare, with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, said that Talamantes is facing felony murder.
The man is also charged with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death and might face additional charges pending the conclusion of the police’s investigation. Police records also showed that the suspect has two prior DWI.
Those involved in this kind of accident should hire a top accident lawyer for legal advice and representation.
