The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said in a press briefing that when the authorities arrived at the scene, they found Gill unconscious. He had a red 4-wheeled Honda ATV next to him, with its engine still running.
The medics transported the young man to South Shore Hospital, where he passed away at about 4:53 p.m. The DA’s office noted that Gill was riding alone, and they do not suspect the presence of foul play in the accident.
The MPD had the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police, Environmental Police, and State Police Crime Scene Services Section. The Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section also assisted with the investigation.
As seen in accident reports, ATV crashes are not uncommon. The state of Michigan makes the safety of riders a priority, and anyone below the age of 16 is not allowed to ride an all-terrain vehicle. All riders are required to take and complete an off-road vehicle (ORV) course and get a certificate before getting behind the wheel.
