The unnamed woman sustained severe injuries, and the medics transported her to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds. Begay appeared uninjured from the crash, and officers with the PPD at the scene determined that she seemed to be impaired.

The driver is facing a vehicular manslaughter charge for the death of the female motorcyclist. The accident remains under investigation, and the police will release an update at a later date.

Impaired driving is one of the common causes of fatal accidents in Arizona and the United States, as seen in accident reports. A person who causes the death of another person faces a vehicular manslaughter charge based on the presence of some relevant factors.

The factors are that the driver recklessly caused the death of another, or he or she intentionally or knowingly committed murder. The offense is classified as a class 2 dangerous felony and carries a penalty of four to ten years imprisonment, and the court can increase it in the case of extreme DUI.
