The police said that the unnamed driver lost control of the vehicle, he or she was driving and crashed into several trees off the roadway. The driver sustained severe injuries, and was taken by the paramedics to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Gomez, on the other hand, had no injuries, and he fled the scene of the accident. The police searched for the suspect until they found and apprehended him on Monday.

The young man is currently in West Valley Detention Center facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run resulting in death. The police are still investigating, and they will provide updates once they have more information.

A hit-and-run is a serious offense under California law, and the courts frown on it. The law expects those involved in an accident to stay at the scene, and cooperate with the authorities during investigations. Drivers should provide their information to the police, and be available for further questioning.

Those involved in this kind of accident should contact a car injury attorney for legal advice and representation.
