The Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner identified the victim as 31-year-old Leo J. Ciaccio of Watseka. Gessner pronounced the Ciaccio dead at the scene of the accident.

The preliminary cause of death determined by the Coroner is massive injuries due to the accident. A final cause of death will be released once the toxicology reports are back from the lab. The results may also help the police piece together what happened.

The reports did not indicate if Ciaccio was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Due to the ejection from the vehicle, it is highly probable that he was not.

The police are under the impression that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in this accident. Once the investigation is completed, more definitive answers should be available regarding the circumstances and death of Ciaccio.

No other vehicles or victims are believed to be involved in the accident. Police are requesting that anyone with information, please contact the station. At this time, the investigation into the single-vehicle accident is ongoing.
