A two-vehicle accident along Highway 20 west of Sutter, California, occurred on Sunday, April 19, close to 6:30 p.m.
Based on the initial report by the California Highway Patrol, the car accident was initiated by a Ford Fusion that hit the concrete wall on the west side near Tarke Road. The driver of the Fusion, 29-year-old Tony Kesterson of Colusa, was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the wall.

A Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driving in the westbound lane by a 59-year-old man from Sacramento attempted to brake but was unable to avoid hitting the Fusion. The truck made contact with the Fusion on the right rear end, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
Kesterson had a 10-year-old passenger in the vehicle with him at the time of the accident. When medical personnel arrived at the scene, they pronounced the boy dead. His identity is not being released until next of kin is notified.
Kesterson received compound fractures of his spine in the accident. He was arrested and booked on Monday at the Sutter County Jail on suspicion of a DUI with alcohol suspected. He is also being charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
The driver of the Toyota did not receive any injuries in the accident, and he is not receiving any charges. Based on the reports, all parties were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The car accident is currently still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
