The CHP said that the big rig was traveling southbound on the freeway when it suddenly hit a cow. The impact sent the truck across the center median of the roadway and into the opposite lanes. The vehicle then collided with Morriseau’s car, which was heading north.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment by paramedics. At the time of this report, the condition he is in is unknown. The big rig driver, who is not named sustained minor injuries, and received treatment.

The CHP did not provide any additional information, and the investigation into the accident remains ongoing,

Accident reports have shown that animal sighting is one of the causes of crashes. Drivers who swerve to avoid the animals end up losing control of their vehicles, leading to accidents. To prevent this, drivers should drive with high visibility at night, using high beams.

Drivers should maintain the speed limit to prevent skidding after applying the brakes. Avoid distractions when driving at night, and motorists should ensure they have their eyes on the road at all times.
