Car accident reports state Nash was walking in the 4500 block of East Slaton Highway at 2 a.m. Sunday when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Authorities have not released any identifying information about the vehicle or its driver.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but Nash succumbed to her wounds before she could be taken to a local trauma center for treatment, according to car accident reports. A press release does not state whether the driver required medical treatment after the incident.

Police so far have not released much information about the crash or the events preceding it. The driver remains unidentified publicly and it wasn’t clear Sunday afternoon whether factors like speed or intoxication might have played roles in the crash. Police also did not say why Nash was walking along the highway early Sunday morning.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Unit. When more information is available, additional car accident reports likely will be released.

If police ultimately announce any citations or charges in connection to the crash, it is likely the driver will consider hiring a top accident lawyer to represent him or her in any criminal proceedings.
