An accident on the afternoon of Thursday, March 26, lead to the death of 36-year-old Maria Herminia Cisneros-Rivera. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. along Highway 59 near Las Lomas.
Cisneros-Rivera was the passenger in a Dodge truck that was traveling on Highway 59. A white Ford Fiesta was passing the Dodge and attempted to merge back into the lane. The Dodge, trying to get out of the way of the Ford, ended up rolling.

Paramedics responding to the scene of the accident rendered aid to the driver and passenger of the Dodge. The injured victims were then transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for the injuries they sustained in the accident.
Cisneros-Rivera was later pronounced dead at the hospital from the injuries she sustained in the rollover. The driver, whose name has not been released to the public, is currently receiving treatment. The extent of the driver’s injuries was not made known at the time of publication.
There were no injuries reported for the driver of the Ford.
No charges or citations have been issued in conjunction with the accident at this time. Further investigation is required to discern if the driver of the Ford was practicing improper passing. If they were, a citation could be issued. If the actions were found to be reckless, they could be facing criminal charges.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
