The band found the news of his death to be sudden and unthinkable.
The accident occurred on Friday, March 6, around 7:30 p.m. at 10883 Dyer Street in northeast El Paso.
According to the reports, Munoz was walking in the center of the southbound lane when a driver in an unknown vehicle struck him. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene.
Medical personnel transported Munoz to an area hospital to receive treatment for the injuries he sustained in the hit-and-run accident but reported that he died while in transport.
The band Fixed Idea was started over 25 years ago in El Paso, Texas, by a group of friends in high school and since then it has evolved. For the last 10 years, Munoz has been a guitarist for the group.
They described him as a person who didn’t care what people would say, he enjoyed being himself. You could often find him adorning a suit and hat, which was considered his trademark style.
The funeral plans have not been completed at this time, but the band plans on performing a celebration of life concert for Munoz in the near future.
Police have not apprehended a suspect in connection with the accident.
