Georgia State Patrol officials said Green had his squad vehicle’s lights activated when he drove through a red light at the intersection. He struck a pickup truck, causing his vehicle to spin and crash into another car.

Green was transported to Atlanta Medical Center and was released later that day, according to authorities. The driver of the truck, whose name authorities did not release, also was hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries.

Photos taken at the scene of the collision show heavy damage to the front and rear ends of Green’s squad vehicle. The driver of the third vehicle involved in the wreck was not injured, according to authorities.

Conyers police officials told area media outlets that Green was on his way to assist another officer responding to a call involving a domestic situation at the time of the crash. The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
