Two Massachusetts State Police cars were on Route 91 northbound overnight, February 28, investigating drug suspects.
A drunk driver lost control of a 2020 Subaru Forester and collided with a car driving in the middle lane of Route 91. The Forester then began rolling and crashed into the cruisers that were sitting in the shoulder of the road.

The Forester was being driven by 29-year-old Connecticut resident Ryan Churilo. His vehicle hit the left driver and passenger side doors of the State Police cruiser with Kyber, the K9, in it. The car then continued to roll another 20 feet into the second cruiser.
The two drug suspects were sitting in the back of one of the cruisers at the time of the accident.
There were no other human injuries sustained, but Kyber was taken to a veterinary hospital with injuries that were considered to be not serious.
There was an empty wine bottle found on the ground near Churilo’s car and another half a bottle on the interior of the car.
Massachusetts State Troopers conducted a field sobriety test on Churilo when they suspected he may be under the influence at the scene. They came to this determination after trying to have a conversation with the man.
Troopers took the man to the barracks in Springfield where he refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. His license was suspended at that time.
They booked him and he was released on a $540 bail. He was charged with an OUI and the reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
Prior to leaving the barracks, he was issued a summons to appear before the court at the Springfield District Court within the next week.
The Massachusetts State Police are still investigating the accident.
