Preliminary investigation has uncovered that the Ford F-150 may have had a tire blowout. The speculated location of the tire blowout is the passenger side rear tire which caused the truck to leave the road.
Evidence shows that the truck may have flipped multiple times before coming to rest after striking a tree.
Escobedo was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Tire blowouts on a vehicle can occur for many reasons. Under or over inflation can play a huge role. Without the proper inflation levels in a tire, they can be forced to stretch and work in ways they were not intended to which causes a breakdown in the components.
Potholes play their own part in tire blowouts. Holes in the road can cause a lot of damage to tires, especially if you are a person who is capable of finding every single one on the road. This causes wear and often sudden trauma to the tire which can cause it to rupture or weaken over time.
The blowout will occur when the tire can no longer withstand the damage being dealt to it. Sometimes it is instant, and the force can be extreme enough to cause an accident. Other times it is a slow death and the tire just won’t hold air anymore.
At this time the police are not suspecting alcohol to be a factor in the accident, merely the tire blowing out.
