The operator of the northbound car, Michael Campbell, 39, of Haslett, purportedly claimed that he was driving at 60-65 mph and had the right of way due to having a green light, and he was hit by the other vehicle, operated by Karen Messer, 68, of West Branch. But, witnesses at the scene refuted Campbell’s story and recollection of the accident, stating it was in fact Messer who had the right of way at the time.

Messer allegedly said that the last thing she could recall was leaving her house. She was promptly taken to MidMichigan Medical Center in West Branch for care for her injuries.
