SAN DIEGO, CA – Another person involved in the June 1 Carmel Valley Crash has died, reports Del Mar Times.
Gregory Wayne Byrd, 42, died on June 13 in the hospital. Byrd is the second person to die from the collision. Lorena Higuera, 52, died at the scene of the crash.

According to investigators, Byrd was driving the wrong way on I-5 in a Dodge Magnum when he struck a Honda Civic. A Ford pickup then crashed into the Dodge.
Higueara died instantly. She was in the front passenger seat at the time of the incident. The driver of that Honda, as well as another passenger, sustained serious injuries.
Byrd and the injured occupants of the Honda were hospitalized.
Higuera, the front-seat passenger in the Honda, died instantly, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. The driver of that car and a second passenger sustained major injuries, as did Byrd and the driver of the Ford pickup. Medics took all four to hospitals for treatment. Byrd died from blunt force injuries.
