The preliminary report stated a black BMW SUV was heading westbound at a high speed, when it crashed head-on into another vehicle. The vehicles then struck another two vehicles.

According to the Chula Vista Fire Department, two motorists required extrication before being taken to a nearby trauma center along with another victim. Two others were injured but declined transport to the hospital.

Fortunately, police believe the injuries are non-life-threatening.

Authorities say the SUV driver is being investigated for DUI, though their hospitalization has led to delays.
