Three of the four people who were injured in the crash were adults. The fourth was a two-year old child. The cause of the accident is believed to be a failure of the driver of the semi-truck to stop fast enough when traffic congested on the road.
Because he could not stop, he slammed into a number of vehicles in front of him, causing a major accident. Following the accident, the road was closed for many hours so that police could investigate, victims could be attended to by paramedics and other rescue works and so the debris could be cleaned.
Currently, it is not clear as to whether or not the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. However, there is extensive damage to 7 vehicles and a few of the injuries could be very serious.
No arrests have been made or charges have been filed so far. The conclusion of the police investigation will determine whether or not the driver of the semi-truck will face any charges.
