Annette Reed, 57, was killed on Thursday morning, Jan. 30, 2020, in Wilmington, Illinois, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.
Reed, of Sauk Village, was the passenger in a vehicle that was driving west on New River Road. The driver of the vehicle Reed was in passed a semi-trailer on a curve. This was a no-passing zone, according to the police.

Because the driver was passing on a curve, they could not see the second vehicle heading east. Reed’s vehicle crashed head-on into the other vehicle. According to the coroner’s office, the crash happened around 6 a.m.
The crash occurred near Boathouse Road. The Wilmington Police Department arrived on the scene of the two-vehicle collision. Both vehicles had heavy damage.
Emergency medical services transported both Reed and the driver to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, according to the coroner’s office. The driver of the eastbound vehicle was also taken to Saint Joseph’s.
About an hour after the accident, just a little before 7 a.m., Reed was pronounced dead. An official statement about the exact cause or manner of her death has not yet been released.
According to the police, the driver who was heading east was seriously injured.
Because of the severity of the crash, the Wilmington police asked for help from the Illinois State Police. The state troopers were able to reconstruct the crash for their investigation.
