Police have arrested two men in connection with two deadly hit-and-run pedestrian accidents in the Los Angeles area. A suspect is still at large in a third hit-and-run that injured a 92-year-old man.
First incident
The first hit-and-run happened at about 1 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 and took the life of a 34-year-old unidentified male in the south-central neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The victim allegedly crossed outside of a marked crosswalk on S. Hill Street near W. Adams Boulevard and a Toyota Prius going southbound on S. Hill Street struck the victim, news reports stated.
The Prius continued on for a bit but then the suspect abandoned the badly damaged vehicle near 30th Street and took off on foot.
Police brought out the bloodhounds and tracked the suspect to his home where they took him into custody.
Second incident
At about 8:15 p.m. on the same day, Luis Sosa, 44 died in Pacoima as he crossed in an unmarked crosswalk at the intersection of Glenoaks Boulevard and Desmond Street.
The suspect, driving a newer model burgundy SUV, took off heading eastbound on Highway 118, according to news reports. A witness followed the vehicle and got the license plate number.
Police tracked down Roman Lopez, 47, of North Hills. Police booked him on suspicion of murder and he is being held on $2 million bail, reports state.
Third incident
On Friday, Feb. 7, a hit-and-run driver backed into a 92-year-old man in Westlake on the 800 block of Burlington Avenue between 8th Street and James M Woods Boulevard. The accident happened about 7:50 a.m. A worker in the area told the driver he’d hit someone, but they drove away. The victim is in stable condition.
Surveillance footage from an area camera gave police a description of the vehicle and suspect: a black 2004 Honda Accord and footage notes the driver is a Latino between 18 and 25 years old.
The Los Angeles Police Department Commander Marc Reina took to social media to reach out to residents: “… third time in 24 hours a pedestrian was killed while walking in the street. Two of those drivers are in jail on felony charges for leaving the scene of an accident. Don’t turn an accident into a crime. Remain at (sic) scene and notify the property authorities.”
