BAKERSFIELD, CA – A teenage boy was struck by a train as he walked along the tracks near Renfro Road and Santa Fe Way North on Sunday.
KGET stated the accident happened around 6:30 pm in northwest Bakersfield. There is an ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident. The teen’s identity has not been released to respect grieving family and friends.

The community held a candle vigil and a balloon release on Monday evening to honor the teen’s life. Those who knew him spoke of him fondly. “He was a great, young man,” said a speaker from the vigil.
