A two-vehicle crash in Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday, February 29th, left two people dead, one unidentified person with serious injuries, and a fourth with minor injuries. The deceased persons are Luanna Encinas, 24, and Priscilla Tamez, 41.
Shane Mabe, 26, suffered minor injuries, and according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, he started the chain of events that led to the accident. Deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to a call about the crash at about 11 p.m.

Mabe was traveling east on Magee Road when he collided with an SUV heading west, carrying Encinas and Tamez at the intersection with Pasco Del Norte. The women were pronounced dead at the scene by the medics who were part of the first responders.
The unidentified driver of the SUV survived with life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital where he is receiving treatment. Mabe was also taken to the hospital and has since been discharged.
The young man got arrested by the police on suspicion of driving under the influence. They charged him with two counts of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, criminal damage, and DUI.
Under Arizona law, it is illegal for anyone to drink and drive or be under the influence of any intoxicating substance. The recommended blood alcohol level in the state is .08 percent, and offenders are handled strictly.
A DUI charge in the state is construed as a misdemeanor or a felony. A first-time offender faces 24 hours sentence in jail to a maximum of six months, a fine as low as $250 and as high as $2500, and driver’s license suspension between 90 to 360 days.
