SAN DIEGO, CA – A man and woman were seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in the East Village area early Monday morning, NBC San Diego reports.
The two victims, both in their 20s, were riding the same scooter near the intersection of 13th and Market Streets when they were struck by a white SUV, either a Ford Explorer or a Toyota 4Runner.

Witnesses say the vehicle ran a red light, hit the scooter, and continued without stopping.
Emergency responders transported one of the victims to UC San Diego Health and the other to Scripps Mercy Hospital. While both suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision, they are expected to survive.
On Monday, police discovered a vehicle they believe may have been the one involved in the crash and detained its driver.
