Von Ditter at about 9:30 a.m. Monday was driving his motorcycle on Washington 3 toward Belfair when a trooper attempted to pull him over for speeding, authorities said. But Von Ditter did not stop and sped off, according to car accident reports.
When Von Ditter reached the intersection with Sam Christopherson Avenue, he crashed into another vehicle, authorities said. Emergency medical personnel declared Von Ditter dead from his wounds at the scene of the wreck.
The driver of the second vehicle was not identified in car accident reports available Wednesday. However, troopers did state that the other driver did not suffer any injuries in the wreck.
Excessive speed likely was a contributing factor in the incident, the Washington State Patrol reported. Troopers have not said whether they are investigation other potential contributing factors, such as intoxication.
“Heart is going out to family and friends for Tobin Von Ditter,” a friend of Von Ditter’s wrote on Facebook. “He was (a) longtime friend and will be missed.”
