EL CAJON, CA – Three people were hospitalized following a hit-and-run collision near an apartment complex in El Cajon on Tuesday.
According to FOX 5, the crash occurred on the 200 block of Jamacha Road, where a southbound tow truck holding two cars suddenly veered into the path of another vehicle. After colliding with the vehicle, the tow truck slammed into several palm trees and came to a rest.

El Cajon police Lt. Jeremiah Larson said two adult motorists in the struck vehicle suffered significant injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The tow truck driver fled the scene on foot, though later returned and was arrested by police officers. They were also injured and transported to a local hospital.
Larson confirmed none of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.
The circumstances of the crash remained under investigation.
