A 21-year-old male passenger lost his life early Sunday morning, August 23rd, in a solo car crash in the Huntington Beach area of California. Lance Jones, of Moreno Valley, died from injuries sustained in the incident.
The car accident report released by the Huntington Beach Police Department placed the time of the occurrence at 12:50 a.m. at the intersection of Springdale Street and McFadden. A 21-year-old Riverside resident identified as Miguel Guzman drove the vehicle involved in the incident.

The police said they responded to the crash site after receiving a report of the accident. When officers and firefighters arrived, they found the victim and Guzman trapped in the vehicle and had to extricate them from the wreckage.
Medics then transported Jones to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver suffered minor wounds and received treatment at the same hospital. Afterward, officers determined that Guzman drove under the influence and placed him under arrest.

Under the California Vehicle Code, a motorist above the age of 21 must not drive with a blood alcohol content of .08%. Commercials drivers, including school bus operators, must not drive with a BAC of .04%, and it’s less than .01% for young adults below 21.
Those who disobey the above will face severe consequences, including possible jail time. When there’s a death involved, it leads to a gross vehicular manslaughter charge, which carries up to ten years imprisonment.
