The crash led to the exit ramp’s closure for about three hours while the ISP gathered evidence and cleared the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Exiting or entering a freeway or highway appears easy enough, but accidents occur when drivers fail to take the necessary precautions. Before doing either of the two, check for the designated lane, and ensure that the traffic ahead and behind is favorable.
Turn on the signal to alert other motorists and avoid slowing down on the freeway. Use the posted speed limit on the ramp, and drivers who miss the exit should avoid backing up or turning around. Instead, go to the next exit, and get back on the freeway in the opposite direction, before trying again.
