The woman sustained severe wounds, and the medics transported her to Kern Medical Center. Sadly, the victim passed away despite the best effort of medical personnel. The unidentified Volkswagen motorist stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The CHP officers took the driver into custody after determining that the individual was driving under the influence. They did not state what the charge against the motorist is. But, under California law, an intoxicated driver who kills another gets tried for vehicular manslaughter in addition to a DUI trial.
