On Monday, March 23, Genesee Circuit Court Judge Celeste D. Bell sentenced 33-year-old Raymond Kibby to six months of jail, followed by a 90-day rehabilitation program, for the theft of a city ambulance last November.
Judge Bell also credited Kibby with the 41-days he has already served in jail, awaiting his sentencing. His conviction includes assault with a deadly weapon, third-degree fleeing and eluding, and a second offense driving while intoxicated.

The plea deal was struck in December that dropped the unlawful driving away of an automobile and malicious destruction of police property.
The original incident happened on November 26, 2019, when Kibby stole the ambulance from a Flint, Michigan hospital. The EMTs had left the keys in the ignition due to the status of a patient. Kibby, who had been dropped off at the emergency room by his mother, was experiencing symptoms of heroin withdraw.
In the act of desperation, the man stole the ambulance to travel to the south side of the city to score some drugs.
After finding the ambulance missing, they tracked the vehicle and called 911. Police pursued the man, and he ended up crashing into a tree and a police car. They apprehended Kibby around Alvord Avenue and Fenton Road.
He admitted to arresting officers that he stole the ambulance, trying to go to the south side to get some heroin.
After he has served his jail time, he will be taken straight to New Paths for a 90-day substance use disorder program according to the sentence delivered by Judge Bell.
