The Vidor Police Department Dispatch Center received a 911 call Tuesday, February 25, at 11:47 p.m.
The call was in reference to a pedestrian accident that had taken place in front of Our Lady of Lourdes Church on North Main Street. The caller told dispatch that a black pick-up truck had hit a pedestrian in the road and left the scene.

When emergency units arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive male victim lying in the road. Justice of the Peace Stagner was called to the scene and the victim was pronounced dead. An autopsy has been ordered.
The Vidor Police Department has released the name of the victim publicly. 25-year-old John Dylan Stanley of Vidor was identified as the deceased.
The initial call to dispatch stated that the black pickup truck was last seen turning onto Wexford Drive. The police have searched the Wexford Park subdivision, but a vehicle matching the description has not been sighted.
The police are now asking for help from the community to find the suspect and the truck. They are requesting that the occupants of the Wexford Park subdivision to check their home surveillance systems.
The truck would have entered the subdivision around 11:50 p.m. There most likely be damage to the front driver’s side of the truck from the accident.
Crime Stoppers is offering to pay a reward up to $1000 for information that leads to the arrest or conviction of the person responsible for the accident.
Police do not know if the driver would have been impaired at the time of the accident. They are hoping that someone in the community will see the truck and call the authorities.
They do not know why the pedestrian was in the road at that time of night. They are currently keeping the investigation open.
