When they arrived, they found out that Sua, on the pretense of needing help with his car, flagged down the 36-year-old male owner of the Toyota. The man stopped to assist the suspect, and the latter struck the driver and asked him to get out of the car.
Sua then got into the vehicle with an unidentified male and fled the scene. By 5:15 p.m., the Toyota was heading south on US Highway 101 near State Highway 92 interchange when it veered out of control and flipped. The area is in San Mateo, and the car landed in the traffic lanes.
The young man then ran from the scene down 16th Avenue west to South Delaware Street, about three-quarters of a mile from the crash scene. The San Mateo Police chased Sua and caught him hiding in a recreational vehicle where people lived.
The officers apprehended the young man and booked him into the San Francisco County Jail. He is facing charges from SFPD and the California Highway Patrol for carjacking, robbery, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property, hence the auto accident attorneys.
There is no information on the whereabouts of the second suspect, and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
