BAKERSFIELD, CA – A man walking through traffic on 178 has died according to local news reports.
The victim was wandering around the highway lanes in the area west of Union Avenue when he stepped directly into the path of a car going 60 mph.

The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver was taken to Kern Medical to treat injuries she suffered in the collision.
Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor but are continuing their investigation.
