RAMONA, CA – A 40-year-old woman was killed by a vehicle as she attempted to cross State Route 67 on Friday night, local news reports.
The deadly accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of SR 67 in the area north of Wynola Street. The victim stepped into the traffic lanes walking west when she was struck by a silver 2005 Ford Escape.

The 25-year-old woman driving the Escape remained at the scene and is not suspected of wrongdoing. The victim died at the scene.
Police are unsure why the woman was on the highway.
