BAKERSFIELD, CA – Officials with the California Highway Patrol say a man died in a hit-and-run vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on State Route 99 in Bakersfield on Monday morning.
According to KGET, the crash happened in the northbound lanes of SR-99 at the Ming Avenue overpass at about 1:08 a.m.

The preliminary report stated a male pedestrian from West Covina was walking on the freeway when an unknown northbound car struck and killed the man.
The suspect vehicle did not stop and fled after the collision. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
At this time, alcohol or drugs are not believed to have played a role.
The accident remained under investigation by CHP officers.
