LOS ANGELES, CA – The Beverly Press reports that a man was killed after his apartment in Fairfax caught fire on Monday afternoon.
After receiving reports of smoke coming from an apartment at a three-story complex, firefighters responded to the 500 block of North Sycamore Avenue shortly after 4:10 p.m.

According to LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart, the blaze was knocked down within 16 minutes of their arrival.
Fire crews discovered a critically injured resident in the unit and attempted life-saving measures. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of severe smoke inhalation, where he later passed away.
Stewart said no other residents were injured and the ongoing investigation is being handled by the LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section.
