The services of a drunk driving attorney would be needed after a police officer in Athens, Georgia, was dragged alongside a car by a drunken driver. The incident occurred on April 27 after the suspect drove off following an exchange with the officer, dragging her along with his car.
According to the Lieutenant at the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, John Radford, the officer was patrolling Preserve Drive at about 9 p.m. when she caught sight of a driver who was driving recklessly.

The suspect, identified as Frank Reyes, was speeding down the road in a 2003 Nissan Altima. This made the officer move far into the side of the road, fearing that she would be hit by the speeding vehicle. She also turned on the emergency lights.
The speeding vehicle rammed into another car and stopped near the curb. Officer Teets noticed that smoke was coming out of the damaged car’s hood. She got out of her patrol vehicle and ran to the Altima to try and assist the driver.
The driver looked unconscious as the officer tried to get him out of the vehicle but suddenly regained his consciousness, started his car, and drove off the scene, dragging the officer along.
This caused the officer to incur injuries on her arm. She was taken to a hospital for treatment and has now been released.
Other officers later found the 26-year-old Reyes’ vehicle. Again, he tried to escape, but his Altima developed a mechanical fault.
He faces multiple charges, including aggravated insult on a police officer, fleeing and attempting to elude, DUI, driving without a license, hit-and-run and no insurance, and driving with canceled registration.
The services of a drunk driving attorney would be high on his priority list. Reyes is presently being held in the Clarke County jail.
