TRUCKEE, CA – Two people are dead after a sedan struck a freightliner truck on State Hwy 89 Tuesday, reports Sierra Sun.
The accident took place near Cabin Creek Rd around 3:20 p.m.

A Ford Fusion was driving north on Hwy 89 when they strayed into the other lane and collided with a freightliner truck.
The occupants of the Fusion were a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the force of the collision nearly rendered the vehicle unrecognizable. The two victims are believed to have died instantaneously.
Officials have not yet identified the victims and it could be weeks before their names are released.
