Investigators gathered that Jones was behind the wheels of a Toyota Corolla, traveling northbound on the state route. The vehicle suddenly crossed the dividing line into the south lanes of travel, continued sideways to the shoulder of the road. The car then drifted off the highway and collided with a fence, leaving the motorist with fatal injuries.
Emergency response crews arrived at the scene a short while later and found the motorist unresponsive. They pronounced him dead at the scene. The NHP reports did not indicate if any other victim was involved in the accident.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the NHP Elko Traffic Division. Investigators would try to determine whether impairment, speed, distracted driving, mechanical faults, or an underlying medical condition played a role in the accident.
Motorists should always strive to obey traffic regulations at all times, pay attention to their surroundings, and drive within a safe speed limit. That way, the recurrence of such incidents would reduce drastically. If they do occur, filing reports of the car accident timeously can increase the victims’ chances of survival.
