The precise details of the accident are not known yet but CHP confirmed that two other vehicles were involved. It is very likely that Wilper suffered a high-speed collision which ejected him and caused fatal injuries.
The actual crash took place close to the Main Street in Santa Ana. The Orange County Fire Authority personnel were among the first responders to the scene of the accident. Attempts were made to revive Wilper but these failed. He was pronounced dead by the Authority personnel on the scene.
CHP has not yet released any details regarding the other vehicles or persons involved in the incident. It is also unclear whether the crash involved injuries to the occupants of other vehicles.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing. These are led by ISP. Preliminary findings show that speed may have been a key factor that contributed to the crash. However, ISP has not ruled out alcohol or drug-related impairment yet. Final accident reports may reveal a definite cause of crash.
