Right before 10 a.m. local time, law enforcement responded to a report of a personal injury collision that happened on Decatur Road, which happens to be just north of Fosdick Street in Volinia Township.
Law enforcement claimed that Yvonna Bruce, 50, of South Bend, was traveling southbound on Decatur Road when she rear-ended a stationary vehicle that had pulled off the road and parked on the side.
The second vehicle belonged to Michael Lorenz, 43, of Granger, who happened to be on the side of the roadway waiting for a wrecker as a result of a deer accident that had just occurred. Mr. Lorenz was luckily out of his car at the time of the incident.
Yvonna Bruce had three passengers in her car at the time, all of whom were wearing seat belts.
The front seat passenger, Julia Applewhite, 18, of South Bend, was taken by Life Care EMS to the local Borgess Lee Memorial and treated for minor injures.
Drugs and alcohol are not currently suspected to be factors in this incident, but the crash remains under investigation.
Awaiting an official investigation, Julia Applewhite could be entitled to a personal injury claim.
