A 75-year-old man was tragically killed in a traffic accident in Wakefield this past weekend.
At approximately 5:45 p.m. local time last Saturday, Michigan State Police were called to the are of M-28 and Jack Spur Road.

Troopers stated that the man who tragically lost his life in the incident was identified as Philip Wirtanen, 75, of Merriweather. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second and only other vehicle involved in the accident, Anthony Beinhorn, 24, of Shakopee, Minnesota, was transported to Aspirus Grandview and was treated for minor injuries.
Michigan State Police said that Philip Wirtanen had a medical condition that may have been a factor in the collision.
