The man was east of Cooper Road around 4:25 a.m. when the Jeep veered off the roadway into a dirt embankment before striking a wooden utility pole. Vasquez-Heraz kept traveling down the road shoulder and was ejected after the vehicle flipped several times.
The paramedics found the man responsive when they got to the scene of the accident, but he passed away on their way to the hospital. The California Highway Police closed the highway because of the powerlines on the road and reopened it after preliminary investigations.
Single-vehicle crashes claim a lot of lives in California, and different factors cause them. Some of these factors include distracted driving, overspeeding, animal sighting, or adverse weather conditions.
California accident reports have shown that sometimes, single-vehicle crashes occur because of a defect in the vehicle or a sudden medical emergency. There is usually no legal action when only one person is involved in an accident unless the victim can prove that the fault does not lie at his feet.
