The coroner and the Long Beach Police Department have identified an 86-year-old woman that was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Wrigley neighborhood area of Long Beach.
The accident originally occurred on March 6 around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and 32nd Street.

According to the police reports, Maria De Jesus Macias was in a crosswalk attempting to cross on Magnolia Avenue. A 2003 Honda Pilot was driving southbound at the same time Macias was attempting to cross.
The driver of the Pilot was only identified as a 46-year-old man from Long Beach. He remained at the scene and performed life-saving measures on Macias. He has fully cooperated with the police regarding the accident.
The emergency crews at the scene of the accident found Macias unconscious when they arrived. They rushed her to the hospital. She was pronounced dead while the doctors attempted to resuscitate her at the hospital.
The police do not suspect that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident. They did not release if the driver was facing any charges in conjunction with the death of Macias.
They have not given a cause as to what initially caused the accident. It was not released who had the right of way at the time of the accident.
The investigation into the accident is currently still ongoing at this time. The Long Beach Police Department asks that anyone who has information to please call their offices.
