VISTA, CA – A 44-year-old man died in Vista after his Mazda sedan crashed head-on into a pickup truck, local news reports.
The accident occurred on Vale Terrace Drive around 1:30 p.m.

Police believe the white Mazda was speeding in the eastbound lanes of Vale Terrace Drive when the driver lost control and crashed into a westbound Chevrolet Silverado.
The Mazda driver was rushed to Palomar Medical Center and pronounced dead. A 44-year-old woman in the passenger seat was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The 77-year-old pickup truck driver was admitted to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla with serious injuries that should not be life-threatening.
Police are unsure if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the deadly crash.
