Two more Las Vegas traffic accidents claimed additional lives on Tuesday, Feb. 4 and Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Alanna Marie Perez, 34, died on Tuesday when she allegedly lost control of her 2003 Ford Mustang as she traveled north on Howard Hughes Parkway. The accident happened about one mile east of the Las Vegas strip. The accident occurred in a corporate center between Sands Avenue and Flamingo Road. Perez’s vehicle hit a palm tree on the driver’s side just after 11:20 p.m.
Paramedics took her to Sunrise Medical Center where she died. Her place of residence is unknown.
Perez is the sixteenth fatality due to a vehicle crash in the Las Vegas metro jurisdiction in 2020.
On Wednesday, an unidentified 63-year-old Las Vegas man died when his 1992 Buick Park Avenue left the roadway and hit a cinder block wall as he drove north on Durango Drive. The solo-vehicle accident occurred south of El Campo Grande Avenue.
Witnesses and officers on scene tried to help the unresponsive driver, according to news reports. Paramedics transported him to Centennial Hills Hospital where hospital personnel pronounced him dead.
It is unknown if any type of impairment contributed to the crash, according to news reports.
His name has not yet been released to the public. Law enforcement will not consider this a traffic-related fatality until the coroner’s office determines cause of death. It’s been a deadly year so far for the Las Vegas metro area. There have been sixteen traffic-related deaths since the beginning of the year.
