During the weekend, in the Thousand Oaks area of California, an auto-pedestrian accident led to the arrest of a 26-year-old male. Juan Plasencia Garcia of Oak Park, the alleged DUI driver, would need representation from a drunk driving attorney following his arrest on Saturday, September 12th.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol when he struck the victim, a 60-year-old male resident of Calabasas. The pedestrian was walking in the bike lane along Westlake Boulevard.

Sheriff’s deputies said that at about 8:30 a.m., Garcia slammed into the man from behind on the roadway’s northbound side, near Bay Drive. When paramedics arrived, they found the victim with significant injuries and rushed him to Los Robles Health System for treatment.

The man’s name and condition remain unknown at the time of this report. The police said that Garcia remained at the scene after the collision, and they took him into custody on suspicion of felony DUI.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with relevant information about the occurrence should contact the Thousand Oaks Police Department on the listed line.

Under the California Vehicle Code, a person is legally drunk if he or she operates a vehicle of any kind while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It means that the person’s blood-alcohol level is at .08% or above. Intoxicated drivers should avoid driving as alcohol affects the brain’s cognitive function and seek alternative transportation.
