After losing control, the Mercedes spun counterclockwise and went into the westbound lanes into the Jeep’s path. According to a California Highway Patrol press release, Hunt tried to brake and steer away from the oncoming vehicle, but the Jeep’s front end collided with the Mercedes’ right side.
Both vehicles came to rest on their wheels with the Mercedes partially blocking the eastbound lanes of State Route 20 and the Jeep on the north shoulder of the highway facing the west.
Hunt suffered moderate injuries in the crash. It is unknown where he was taken to have his injuries treated.
The speed of both vehicles was estimated at 55 mph and drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor in the accident. Authorities reopened the road at 9:43 a.m.
Denson was the healthcare facilities director at Adventist Health.
Multiple agencies responded to the accident, including the California Highway Patrol, Mendocino County Sheriff’s office, Medstar ambulance, Redwood Valley – Calpella Fire Department and the California Department of Transportation.
